Run for Office

 

Step 1: Review

Review the election process, guidelines, and expectations of being an officer first. Discuss with your advisor(s), guardian and school administrators the dates and commitments required for being an officer prior to applying. 

Step 2: Prepare Required Documents

Prepare the following required documents:

  1. Officer/Advisor Agreement Form: print and get it signed by all required parties.

  2. A one-page resume: use the resume template provided to create and display your achievements.

  3. Grade Verification Form: print and get it completed/signed by all required parties.

  4. Current/Most Recent Report Card: upload a copy of this on your application to verify your current grades.


Step 3: Name Documents

Once you have gathered the required documents, name all documents as indicated below:

  • Region # - Last Name, First Name - Officer/Advisor Agreement Form

  • Region # - Last Name, First Name - Officer Resume

  • Region # - Last Name, First Name - Grade Verification Form

  • Region # - Last Name, First Name - Report Card


Step 4: Complete & Submit Application

Complete the online application (linked below), upload the four required documents within the application (named appropriately), and submit application.

Completed applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CST on 
December 1, 2024. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.


Step 5: Prepare

You will be required to give a one minute speech during the House of Delegates meeting at the region conference. Speech Topic: How does the Power of One unit “Family Ties” help members “Bee Connected” with their families?
Following the speech, candidates will be asked one thought question and one fact question.

Prepare to take a test over FCCLA knowledge. The test will include a wide variety of topics such as general facts about the association, competitive events, programs, communication, and Parliamentary Procedure.

Step 6: Run for Office

Ensure you are registered for your specific region conference and attend the officer candidate test, meet and greet, and House of Delegates meeting at the conference. Give your speech and you are on your way to becoming an Texas FCCLA officer.
